“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Romans 15:4).
Catholic Catechism
Catholic Catechism is the cornerstone of the spiritual formation of the believer, especially the child. From the beginning, the Church has been keen on creating a suitable environment in which the children of the parish can receive the principles of Christian formation according to Catholic teaching, while also learning prayers and the Chaldean Liturgy, enabling them to participate fully in the Eucharis and sacraments.
To achieve this, the Church prepared a team of Catechists from among the parish members, imbued with a spirit of apostolic work, to provide essential support for the transmission of faith and the life of the Church.
History of St. George Saturday School
The school began under Fr. Sand Basil in (2019) with First Communion classes only. To expand the program, the parish collaborated with Our Lady of Craigieburn Catholic Church, renting classrooms on Saturdays and offering classes for different age groups. This collaboration was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the arrival of Fr. Hani Ablahad and after the end of the pandemic, the school resumed service for the 2023 academic year, registering over 120 students, including 52 First Communion candidates, with a teaching and administrative staff of 14.
Due to limited space in the parish building, in 2024, classes were moved to and conducted at Hume Anglican Grammar School, covering students from Prep to Grade 6. Enrollment increased to over 180 students, including 60 First Communion candidates, with 15 staff members.
For the 2025 academic year, more than 200 students were registered, including 80 First Communion candidates, and the teaching team included over 17 volunteers. Enrollment for next year is expected to exceed 250 students.
