Little Saints Choir

Date of Establishment: August 2022

The idea of establishing the Children’s Choir emerged to invite First Communion students and encourage them to attend and participate in the children’s Holy Mass held every Saturday. The initiative was launched by the respected Fr. Hani Ablahad, who was the parish priest of St. George at the time. He also established a special Mass for children every Saturday. At its founding, the choir consisted of 25 boys and girls. Sister Valentina Shamoun led the rehearsals every Monday. Later, rehearsals were moved to Saturdays before the Holy Mass, due to the difficulty for children to attend on two days (Saturday and Monday). Since June 2025, Mr. Laith Aouni has taken responsibility for discipline and commitment within the choir. Choir Instrumentalists: Janjikib Yaqo and Ella Firas.

Choir Rehearsals:

As of the end of September, rehearsals are held every Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., allowing time to practice new hymns and melodies that help children develop their creativity.

Choir Objectives:

  1. Develop children’s understanding of the rites of the Holy Mass.
  2. Enhance the vocal skills of children (choristers).
  3. Encourage children to work with team spirit and foster leadership among choir members.
  4. Instill a spirit of respect in children for the sacred place (the church).

Future Aspirations

  1. Teaching children hymns in three languages (Arabic, Sureth, and English).
  2. Participation in all choir-related activities (at the parish level and across Melbourne parishes).
  3. Recording videos of hymn collections to be included on the church’s YouTube channel.
  4. Creating educational and recreational programs for children to strengthen their commitment and service within the Church.
