About Us

Adult Choir in Chaldean:

The choir was founded in 2016 under the leadership of Fr. Maher Korial, the parish priest. It currently has six members and is led by the instrumentalist Adrian Matti. The choir meets for rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday. The choir invites faithful with vocal and musical abilities to join.

 

Choir Mission

The primary mission of St. George Chaldean Choir is to enrich, inspire, motivate, and engage the faithful through sacred hymns and chants during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and other liturgical celebrations. To fulfil this mission, choirs strive to:

1.      Be rooted and grow in understanding the spirituality of the Chaldean Catholic Church.

2.      Become familiar with the Church’s liturgy and its various liturgical seasons.

3.      Gain knowledge of church music and its suitability to the rite and the musical culture of the parish community.

4.      Foster a spirit of communion while participating in the Holy Mass with the parish priest, deacons, and the congregation.

5.      Cultivate teamwork and commitment in all rehearsals and practices

 

Activities the Choir Seeks to Undertake:

1.      Serving prayer and chant in Masses and liturgical feasts.

2.      Participation in spiritual retreats.

3.      Joint spiritual gatherings with the church deacons.

4.      Participation in and preparation for hymn evenings organised by the parish.

5.      Participation in hymn evenings with choirs from other churches.

6.      Participation in recreational and social activities with church groups.
